Mattress and sofa cleaning is priced and scoped per item, which makes it the odd one out among these services. The standard method is hot water extraction: a cleaning solution is injected into the fabric and immediately drawn back out under vacuum, lifting soiling, body oils, dust mite matter and allergens from within the material rather than off its surface. Singapore's humidity makes this more relevant here than in drier climates, because upholstery that stays damp does not simply dry out on its own.

Fabric sofa roughly S$60 to S$120 for a 1-seater, S$100 to S$180 for a 2-seater, S$150 to S$250 for a 3-seater, and S$200 to S$350 for an L-shape or 4-seater. Leather typically S$150 to S$300 and includes conditioning. Mattresses roughly S$45 to S$200 for a queen depending on method and provider. Rates before GST. Most vendors set a minimum order value, so a single small item may not be bookable on its own.

How it works, step by step

Material check and colourfast test
Fabric or leather, and a discreet test patch. Leather is cleaned and conditioned, never extracted. A vendor who quotes without asking what the item is made of has not understood the job.

Dry vacuum
Loose particulate and surface debris removed first, so the extraction stage is not simply pushing grit deeper into the weave.

Stain pre-treatment
Applied where the fabric permits. This is also when the vendor should tell you honestly which marks will not come out.

Hot water extraction
Solution injected into the material and drawn straight back out under vacuum, lifting body oils, soiling and dust mite matter from within rather than off the surface.

Drying, which matters more here than elsewhere
Four to eight hours with airflow, longer in humid conditions. Do not put covers or fitted sheets back on until it is completely dry, or Singapore humidity turns a stain problem into a mould problem.

How long does upholstery take to dry?
Typically four to eight hours with good airflow, and longer in humid conditions or a closed room. Run a fan or the aircon and keep the room ventilated. Do not put fitted sheets or covers back on until the item is fully dry, because trapping residual moisture in Singapore's climate is how you end up with a mould problem worse than the stain you started with.
Will every stain come out?
No. Extraction is very effective on body oils, general soiling and dust mite matter. It is unreliable on dye transfer, ink, and anything that has soaked through to the foam core, and it cannot reverse fabric that has faded or worn. A vendor who inspects first and tells you honestly what will not come out is a better sign than one who promises everything will.
How often should a mattress be cleaned?
Every twelve to eighteen months is a common recommendation, more often where there are allergy sufferers, young children or pets. Singapore's humidity means dust mite populations are not seasonal here the way they are in temperate climates.
Is it priced per item or per hour?
Per item, essentially always. Sofas are quoted by seater count, mattresses by bed size. This is worth knowing because it means the price is predictable in advance, unlike hourly work, and because most vendors set a minimum order value, so booking a single armchair on its own may not be possible.
Can leather be cleaned the same way?
No. Leather is not extracted, it is cleaned and conditioned, which is a different process and priced differently. Tell the vendor the material when booking. A vendor who quotes for a leather sofa without asking what it is made of has not understood the job.
